ARTIST STATEMENT

COMFORTABLE IN MY OWN SKIN

"I have reached an age where i am comfortable in my own skin, to do what i need to do, to feel what i want to feel, to look the way i look, the lines, the flaws, the wrinkles, i have earned them, they are mine to enjoy and celebrate".

BIOGRAPHY

I am an Edinburgh based artist who began creating mixed media art in 2006.

I completed my first photography exhibition in Edinburgh in 2008, which was warmly received.  The encouragement of my friends and family and strangers spurred me on.

I followed my dream late in life, by attending Edinburgh College of Art in 2010, which led me to successfully applying for Leith School of Art, which is an amazing community for developing artist.

The encouragement and support given by staff and fellow students is second to none, i would highly recommend it.

Many huge pennies have dropped for me regarding my work and love of other artists this year, and hopefully i can follow in their footsteps.

I have discovered that although i love both creating art and photography, i can now fuse both mediums together to create exciting mixed media art, and this is a path i will explore

Currently still studying at Leith School of Art and planning future projects.
